# Notebook Journal

> Private notes, ratings, and photos for every strain in a notebook — your own record alongside the generated one.

## Overview

Every notebook has two sides. The **Notebook** side is a nine-lesson, evidence-aware reader for the order or stash selection. The **Journal** side is yours: private notes, an optional 1–5 rating, and photos for each strain in that notebook. The visual saved-lineup strip helps you connect each journal entry to the exact product you selected.

Switch between them with the tabs at the top of any notebook.

If you still need to capture a product, use **Scan a Label** from the Notebooks library. Use **Order History** when you want to return to the purchase record behind an order notebook.

  Everything you write in a journal is private. Journal notes are never shared, published, or shown to other users, and they are included in your data export and deleted with your account.

## What you can journal

Each strain in the notebook's source order (or stash selection) gets its own journal card:

| Element    | Details                                                                                                                         |
| ---------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Note**   | Free-form text, up to 4,000 characters. How it hit, what you'd buy again, anything.                                             |
| **Rating** | Optional, 1–5. Private — this is your score, not a public review.                                                               |
| **Photos** | Pictures of the jar, the product, or the label, when photo upload is enabled for your account. Up to 8 per strain per notebook. |

## Your strain history

Because the same strain often shows up across multiple orders, the journal builds a timeline automatically. When a strain in a notebook also appears in your other notebooks, a **History** link shows every note, rating, and photo you've recorded for it — a running record of each jar you've bought over time.

## Journaling a notebook

Your notebook opens the moment your order is saved (or your stash selection is submitted) — there's no waiting for AI research. You land in the Journal with every item you bought ready to write about, and the AI lessons fill in on the Notebook tab automatically once research completes.

    Open any notebook from the Notebooks tab — including ones still generating. Journaling never waits on generation.

    Tap **Journal** at the top of the notebook.

    Tap a strain card to add or edit your note and rating. Changes save automatically.

  <Step title="Add photos">
    If photo upload is enabled, tap the add tile on a strain's photo strip to take or choose a picture.

## Notes

* Journal notes and ratings are available on every notebook you own, on any plan.
* Photo upload is rolling out gradually and may not be enabled for your account yet.
* Deleting a notebook removes its journal entries and photos. Notes for the same strain in other notebooks are kept.
