# The Thought — Scripts

> Six ten-second episodes where a pseudo-profound stoner question turns out to have a real chemical answer. Script IDs HIT-001 through HIT-006.

<Note>
  **Arm 2 — Participation.** Optimised for comments and rewatch. Test design: [The 100](/social/scripts/the-100/design). Character: [Character Config](/social/character-config).
</Note>

## Why This Pack Exists

From the [teardowns](/social/teardowns#5-hits-blunt--the-characters-voice-not-a-campaign):

> **Why it recurs:** it is the only stoner format that is a **writing** format rather than an image or video format. Zero production cost, infinite supply, and it flatters the audience — the joke is that the thought is dumb, but writing a good one takes wit.
>
> **Steal:** this is a **caption and comment-reply register**, not a video series. The cheapest daily-content engine available — one sentence.

We are testing that last claim. The research says it is not a video format. **This pack is six attempts to prove the research wrong**, because if a ten-second one-sentence video works, it is by an order of magnitude the cheapest thing in the library.

## The Adaptation

<Warning>
  **The original format's name is an act we do not depict, and it is never used on camera or in a caption.** The series is called **The Thought**. Nothing is lit, held, or consumed at any point.
</Warning>

## The Twist That Makes It Ours

The classic format is a question that collapses on two seconds of thought. Ours is a question that **survives** it.

```mermaid theme={null}
flowchart LR
    A["THE THOUGHT<br/>0-4s<br/><i>sounds absurd</i>"] --> B["THE PAUSE<br/>4-6s"]
    B --> C["THE ANSWER<br/>6-12s<br/><i>it is real,<br/>and here is why</i>"]
```

Anyone can write a dumb-profound question. Almost nobody can follow it with a verified answer, and that gap is the entire brand. The audience arrives for the joke and leaves having learned something true — which is the thesis of the whole operation, compressed into ten seconds.

<Note>
  **`HIT-006` breaks the pattern on purpose.** After five questions that turn out to be real, one gets a flat "No." That reversal only pays if the first five have established the expectation, so it posts last.

Professor High — THE THOUGHT — HIT-001
Runtime: 12 seconds | 9:16 vertical
CHARACTERS
- professor-high-v1 — LOCKED. Already loaded with his image, voice and
  personality. Do NOT re-describe him — re-describing a saved character is the
  main cause of drift.
- No supporting cast — Professor High alone.
- Any supporting role may be recast freely between packs, never inside one — a
  recast mid-pack turns a format test into a casting test. Briefs and swap
  rules: /social/cast

TONE: Nature-documentary deadpan, but INWARD — he is thinking out loud rather
than addressing anyone. His eyes are slightly past the lens for the first
beat, then come to camera for the answer.

IMPORTANT — OPENING: Start COLD mid-thought. No title card, no logo, no
greeting. No on-screen text before 0:06.

IMPORTANT — THE PAUSE AT 0:04-0:06 IS A REAL PAUSE: two full seconds of total

No product, packaging or paraphernalia anywhere. No brands or logos. NOTHING
is lit, held or consumed at any point.

2. (0:04-0:06) IDENTICAL framing, held. TOTAL SILENCE. No movement, no music,
   no blink cut.
   ON SCREEN: nothing
3. (0:06-0:11) His eyes come to the lens. Single card enters the lower third.
   SAYS (PROF): "So is a mango a very weak strain, or is cannabis a very
   complicated fruit. It is neither. It is a shared compound, and it is in
   hops too."
   ON SCREEN: SHARED COMPOUND
4. (0:11-0:12) Closing card.

Professor High — THE THOUGHT — HIT-004
Runtime: 13 seconds | 9:16 vertical

TONE: Nature-documentary deadpan, inward. This is the most genuinely
provocative idea in the pack and he delivers it entirely flatly, which is what
makes it land.

IMPORTANT — OPENING: Start COLD mid-thought. No title card, no logo. No
on-screen text before 0:07.

IMPORTANT — THE PAUSE AT 0:05-0:07 IS TWO FULL SECONDS OF SILENCE.

ENVIRONMENT: Professor High's lab. Stylized, clean. No product, packaging or
paraphernalia anywhere — and no cannabis plant either. No brands or logos.
Nothing lit, held or consumed.

SHOTS + DIALOGUE:
1. (0:00-0:05) COLD OPEN. Static chest-up, eyes slightly past the lens.
   SAYS (PROF): "A plant produced a compound. The compound made humans want
   more of the plant."
   ON SCREEN: nothing
2. (0:05-0:07) IDENTICAL framing, held. TOTAL SILENCE.
   ON SCREEN: nothing
3. (0:07-0:12) Slow push-in as his eyes come to the lens. Single card, lower
   third.
   SAYS (PROF): "So who is farming who. It is now on every continent, in
   climate-controlled buildings, tended around the clock by its most
   enthusiastic species. Nothing was added. It was selected — by us, for us,
   on its terms."
   ON SCREEN: WHO IS FARMING WHO
4. (0:12-0:13) Closing card.
   SAYS (PROF): "This is why I'm high."
   ON SCREEN: THIS IS WHY I'M HIGH

ON-SCREEN TEXT STYLE: Beats 3 and 4. Bold sans-serif, white with heavy stroke,
lower third, pineapple yellow #D98E04 on "WHO". 250px clear at bottom, 120px
at top.

AUDIO: Original sound. Sparse strings, silence across the pause.

DO NOT: No product, no smoking, no paraphernalia, no cannabis plant in frame.
No medical claims. No real brand names.

Professor High — THE THOUGHT — HIT-006
Runtime: 8 seconds | 9:16 vertical

TONE: Nature-documentary deadpan, inward — and then a hard, flat correction.
This is the pack's pattern break: after five thoughts that turned out to be
real, this one is simply shut down.

IMPORTANT — OPENING: Start COLD mid-thought. No title card, no logo. No
on-screen text until the final beat.

IMPORTANT — THERE IS NO PAUSE IN THIS EPISODE. That is the point. Where the
other five hold two seconds of silence, this one cuts him off with his own
answer. His eyes snap from past-lens to lens on the word "No" and nothing else
in the frame moves.

IMPORTANT — "No." is a complete beat. Let it sit. Do not soften it, do not add
a smile, do not add a follow-up clause.

ENVIRONMENT: Professor High's lab. Stylized, clean. No product, packaging or
paraphernalia anywhere. No food, no pepper grinder, no props at all. No brands
or logos.

SHOTS + DIALOGUE:
1. (0:00-0:05) COLD OPEN. Static chest-up, eyes slightly past the lens,
   building real momentum and genuine curiosity.
   SAYS (PROF): "Black pepper contains caryophyllene. Cannabis contains
   caryophyllene. So technically, when I season something, am I—"
   ON SCREEN: nothing
2. (0:05-0:07) IDENTICAL framing. His eyes snap to the lens. Nothing else
   moves.
   SAYS (PROF): "No."
   ON SCREEN: nothing
3. (0:07-0:08) Closing card.
   SAYS (PROF): "This is why I'm high."
   ON SCREEN: THIS IS WHY I'M HIGH

ON-SCREEN TEXT STYLE: Final beat only. Bold sans-serif, white with heavy
stroke, lower third. 250px clear at bottom, 120px at top.

AUDIO: Original sound. Strings build under beat 1 and CUT DEAD on "No." One
soft chord returns on the final beat.

DO NOT: No product, no smoking, no paraphernalia, no props. No medical claims
and no suggestion that any food produces a cannabis-related effect — the
flat "No." is doing that compliance work and must not be undercut. No real
brand names.

## Pack Notes

| Rep | The thought | Variable being probed |
| --------- | -------------------------- | ------------------------------------------ |
| `HIT-001` | Mango / myrcene            | Baseline — does a one-sentence video work? |
| `HIT-002` | Indica as a shelving label | Language question vs chemistry question |
| `HIT-003` | Your own cannabinoids      | Biggest idea → biggest reach?              |
| `HIT-004` | Who is farming who         | Flipped agency → argument                  |
| `HIT-005` | Blue Dream as a rumour     | Does a thought convert to a lookup?        |
| `HIT-006` | "No."                      | Pattern break, shortest in the pack        |

<Note>
  **This pack is a falsification test, and that is why it is worth running.** The research says this is a caption format, not a video format. Six ten-second videos is a cheap way to find out — and if it works, we have a daily engine that costs one sentence and one static shot.

  If it does not work, we have lost less production time than a single Comedy Engine episode and we can move the register straight into captions and comment replies, exactly as the teardowns recommend.
