# The Rotation — Scripts

> Six episodes of the highest-participation format documented — a casting exercise with no punchline of its own, so the audience supplies it. Script IDs ROT-001 through ROT-006.

<Note>
**Arm 2 — Participation.** Optimised for comments. Test design: [The 100](/social/scripts/the-100/design). Character: [Character Config](/social/character-config).
</Note>

## Why This Pack Exists

From the [teardowns](/social/teardowns#4-dream-blunt-rotation--the-participation-format):

> **Why it recurs:** it is a **casting exercise, not a joke.** The format has no punchline of its own — it outsources the humour entirely to the poster's taste, which makes it infinitely re-runnable and makes every participant feel like the author.
>
> **Steal:** our highest-participation format, and it maps onto strain data cleanly.

A format with no punchline is a format that cannot go stale, and one where the comment section is doing the writing. That is the cheapest content engine in the entire research set.

## The Adaptation

<Warning>
**Nothing is ever passed, lit, held, or depicted.** The original format's name implies an act we do not show. Ours is stated, never staged: a list of four, spoken aloud, with reasons. The joke is the *casting*, and casting requires no props.

We also never use the original name on camera or in a caption. It is simply **The Rotation**.
</Warning>

## The Structure

Fifteen to twenty-five seconds. Professor High names four, gives one reason each, and the fourth is always the turn — the one that reframes the other three. Then he asks for yours and does not editorialise about it.

<Note>
**He must post his own every time.** The documented mechanic is that participants feel like authors, and that only happens if the host has gone first and made himself judgeable. A host who asks without answering gets a dead comment section.

Professor High — THE ROTATION — ROT-001
Runtime: 22 seconds | 9:16 vertical
CHARACTERS
- professor-high-v1 — LOCKED. Already loaded with his image, voice and
personality. Do NOT re-describe him — re-describing a saved character is the
  main cause of drift.
- No supporting cast — Professor High alone.
- Any supporting role may be recast freely between packs, never inside one — a
recast mid-pack turns a format test into a casting test. Briefs and swap
  rules: /social/cast

TONE: Nature-documentary deadpan. He is presenting a considered list, slightly
daring anyone to disagree, without ever raising his voice.

IMPORTANT — OPENING: Start COLD, ALREADY MID-SENTENCE. No title card, no logo,
no greeting.

IMPORTANT — NOTHING IS PASSED, LIT, HELD OR DEPICTED at any point. This is a
spoken list, not a staged scene. No product, packaging, paraphernalia or
smoking anywhere in the video.

IMPORTANT — THE FOUR-SLOT GRAPHIC: a simple four-slot card that fills one slot
per name as it is spoken, with the strain name and its dominant terpene. It
must be legible on a phone. Hold it complete before the final beat.

ENVIRONMENT: Professor High's lab. Stylized, clean, warm practical lighting.
No brands or logos.

SHOTS + DIALOGUE:
1. (0:00-0:05) COLD OPEN. Static chest-up, deadpan, direct to lens, already
   talking.
SAYS (PROF): "Four slots. These are mine and I am not defending them for
   very long."
   ON SCREEN: nothing
2. (0:05-0:16) Slow push-out as the four-slot card builds, one slot per name.
SAYS (PROF): "Blue Dream, because it is myrcene-led and it is the control
group. Sour Diesel, because it is limonene and everyone is wrong about it.
Northern Lights, because it does exactly one thing. Jack Herer, because it
is terpinolene and there is nothing else like it in the top ten."
ON SCREEN: BLUE DREAM / MYRCENE - SOUR DIESEL / LIMONENE - NORTHERN LIGHTS
/ MYRCENE - JACK HERER / TERPINOLENE (accumulating)
3. (0:16-0:20) Hold on the complete card. A single line enters beneath it.
SAYS (PROF): "Not one of them clears twenty-two percent. That was not an
   accident."
   ON SCREEN: NONE OVER 22%
4. (0:20-0:22) Cut back to Professor High, static chest-up.
SAYS (PROF): "Four slots. Comments. This is why I'm high."
ON SCREEN: THIS IS WHY I'M HIGH

ON-SCREEN TEXT STYLE: Bold sans-serif, white with heavy stroke, pineapple
yellow #D98E04 on the terpene names. 250px clear at bottom, 120px at top.

AUDIO: Original sound. Sparse strings building slightly as slots fill.

DO NOT: No product, smoking, packaging or paraphernalia. Nothing passed or
held. No medical claims and no claim that any strain produces any effect. No
real dispensary, brand or producer names — strain names only.

Professor High — THE ROTATION — ROT-003
Runtime: 24 seconds | 9:16 vertical
CHARACTERS
- professor-high-v1 — LOCKED. Already loaded with his image, voice and
personality. Do NOT re-describe him — re-describing a saved character is the
  main cause of drift.
- No supporting cast — Professor High alone.
- Any supporting role may be recast freely between packs, never inside one — a
recast mid-pack turns a format test into a casting test. Briefs and swap
  rules: /social/cast

TONE: Nature-documentary deadpan. This is the most data-dense episode in the
pack but the format keeps it a list, not a lesson — four picks, four reasons,
no elaboration.

IMPORTANT — OPENING: Start COLD, ALREADY MID-SENTENCE. No title card, no logo.

IMPORTANT — NOTHING IS PASSED, LIT, HELD OR DEPICTED. No product, packaging,
paraphernalia or smoking anywhere.

IMPORTANT — THE FOUR-SLOT GRAPHIC: each slot shows the terpene name and its
percentage share. Legible on a phone. Hold complete before the final beat.

ENVIRONMENT: Professor High's lab. Stylized, clean. No brands or logos.

SHOTS + DIALOGUE:
1. (0:00-0:05) COLD OPEN. Static chest-up, deadpan, already talking.
SAYS (PROF): "Same format, one level down. Four compounds instead of four
   names."
   ON SCREEN: nothing
2. (0:05-0:17) Slow push-out as the four-slot card builds.
SAYS (PROF): "Myrcene, at forty-six percent, because it is unavoidable.
Limonene, at twenty-five, because it is the other half of everything.
Caryophyllene, at fifteen, because it is the one that behaves differently.
And terpinolene, at four and a half, because most people have never
   knowingly had it."
   ON SCREEN: MYRCENE 45.8% - LIMONENE 25.4% - CARYOPHYLLENE 15.2% -
   TERPINOLENE 4.5% (accumulating)
3. (0:17-0:21) Hold on the complete card. A single line enters beneath it.
SAYS (PROF): "Three of those four cover eighty-six percent of the shelf.
The fourth is why anything is interesting."
   ON SCREEN: 3 COVER 86%
4. (0:21-0:24) Cut back to Professor High, static chest-up.
SAYS (PROF): "Look up which one leads yours. This is why I'm high."
ON SCREEN: THIS IS WHY I'M HIGH

ON-SCREEN TEXT STYLE: Bold sans-serif, white with heavy stroke, pineapple
yellow #D98E04 on the percentages. 250px clear at bottom, 120px at top.

AUDIO: Original sound. Sparse strings building as slots fill.

DO NOT: No product, smoking, packaging or paraphernalia. No medical claims and
no claim that any terpene produces any effect. No real brand names.

Professor High — THE ROTATION — ROT-006
Runtime: 20 seconds | 9:16 vertical
CHARACTERS
- professor-high-v1 — LOCKED. Already loaded with his image, voice and
personality. Do NOT re-describe him — re-describing a saved character is the
  main cause of drift.
- No supporting cast — Professor High alone.
- Any supporting role may be recast freely between packs, never inside one — a
recast mid-pack turns a format test into a casting test. Briefs and swap
  rules: /social/cast

TONE: Nature-documentary deadpan. He is genuinely engaged with what the
audience sent, and openly annoyed that one of them beat him.

IMPORTANT — PRODUCTION NOTE: All three rotations and handles are placeholders
marked [DATA: ...]. They must be replaced with REAL rotations pulled from real
comments on ROT-001 through ROT-005, with the commenter's handle shown on
screen. Do not invent audience responses or handles. If no suitable comments
exist yet, this episode does not ship.

IMPORTANT — OPENING: Start COLD, ALREADY MID-SENTENCE. No title card, no logo.

IMPORTANT — NOTHING IS PASSED, LIT, HELD OR DEPICTED. No product, packaging,
paraphernalia or smoking anywhere.

ENVIRONMENT: Professor High's lab. Stylized, clean. No brands or logos.

SHOTS + DIALOGUE:
1. (0:00-0:05) COLD OPEN. Static chest-up, deadpan, already talking.
SAYS (PROF): "I read all of them. That was a mistake. Three worth showing
   you."
   ON SCREEN: nothing
2. (0:05-0:11) A four-slot card appears with the first audience rotation and
   the commenter's handle above it.
SAYS (PROF): "[DATA: rotation 1 + handle]. All four myrcene. That is not a
rotation, that is one strain with four names."
ON SCREEN: [handle] + four slots
3. (0:11-0:16) Card changes to the second rotation and handle.
SAYS (PROF): "[DATA: rotation 2 + handle]. Genuinely better than mine.
   Annoying."
ON SCREEN: [handle] + four slots
4. (0:16-0:20) Card changes to the third rotation and handle, then the closing
   card.
SAYS (PROF): "[DATA: rotation 3 + handle]. I have questions. Keep sending
them. This is why I'm high."
ON SCREEN: THIS IS WHY I'M HIGH

ON-SCREEN TEXT STYLE: Bold sans-serif, white with heavy stroke, pineapple
yellow #D98E04 on the handles. 250px clear at bottom, 120px at top.

AUDIO: Original sound. Sparse strings.

DO NOT: No product, smoking, packaging or paraphernalia. No medical claims. No
real dispensary, brand or producer names. Never quote a commenter mockingly —
elevating them is the entire mechanic.

## Pack Notes

| Rep | Variant | Variable being probed |
| --------- | --------- | ------------------------------------- |
| `ROT-001` | Dream | Baseline — casting exercise vs joke |
| `ROT-002` | Nightmare | Negative version vs aspirational |
| `ROT-003` | Terpenes | Compounds instead of strains |
| `ROT-004` | Honest | Deflationary version |
| `ROT-005` | Optimal | Deliberate provocation |
| `ROT-006` | Audience | Reading theirs back — the loop-closer |

<Note>
**`ROT-006` decides whether this becomes a weekly show.** It is the only episode in the entire slate built from audience material, and the [mascot playbook](/social/mascot-playbook) is unambiguous that **elevating a commenter** is among the highest-ROI moves available to a character brand. If it out-performs `ROT-001`, The Rotation stops being a pack and becomes a recurring franchise.
