Planned Feature — Push notifications are designed but not yet implemented. This page describes the intended notification system and will be updated when the feature ships.

Overview

High IQ sends push notifications to keep you informed about your cannabis tracking activity, report completions, restock reminders, and app updates. You have full control over which notifications you receive and can adjust your preferences at any time.

Managing Notification Preferences

In the App

1

Open Profile Settings

From the Dashboard, tap your avatar or profile icon in the top-right corner.
2

Tap Notifications

In the settings list, tap Notifications. This opens the notification preferences screen.
3

Toggle Categories

Each notification category has an on/off toggle. Turn individual categories on or off based on what you want to receive.
4

Save Changes

Changes are saved automatically as you toggle. There is no separate save button — your preferences update in real time.

At the System Level

Push notifications also require permission at the iOS system level. If you have denied notification permission for High IQ entirely, no notifications will be delivered regardless of in-app settings.
1

Open iOS Settings

Go to Settings on your iPhone.
2

Find High IQ

Scroll down to High IQ in the app list, or search for it at the top.
3

Tap Notifications

Tap Notifications to see the system-level notification settings.
4

Configure Permissions

Ensure Allow Notifications is turned on. You can also configure:
  • Lock Screen — Show on the lock screen
  • Notification Center — Show in the notification pull-down
  • Banners — Show banner alerts at the top of the screen
  • Sounds — Play a sound when a notification arrives
  • Badges — Show the red badge count on the app icon
If you are not receiving notifications you expect, always check the iOS Settings first. The most common cause is system-level permissions being turned off.

Notification Details

Stash Alerts

Stash alerts help you stay on top of your cannabis inventory:
  • Low Stock Warning — Triggered when a stash item drops below a configurable threshold
  • Restock Reminder — Based on your consumption velocity (tracked in Stats), High IQ predicts when you will run out and reminds you in advance
  • Expiration Notice — If you have entered an expiration date for a product, you will be notified before it expires
Restock predictions improve over time as High IQ learns your consumption patterns. The more sessions you log, the more accurate the predictions become.

Reports

Report notifications let you know when AI-generated content is ready:
  • Report Complete — Sent when a streaming report finishes generating
  • New Insights — Sent when High IQ identifies a noteworthy pattern in your data (e.g., a spending trend or preferred terpene)

Recommendations

Recommendation notifications surface strains you might enjoy:
  • Personalized Picks — Strains selected based on your stash, ratings, and consumption history
  • New Arrivals — Recently added strains that match your preferences
  • Similar to Favorites — Strains with similar terpene profiles to ones you have rated highly

Achievements

Achievement notifications celebrate your progress:
  • Badge Earned — You have unlocked a new badge (Common, Rare, Epic, or Legendary)
  • Milestone Reached — You have hit a tracking milestone (e.g., 50 strains tried, 100 sessions logged)
  • Streak Update — Your logging streak status (maintained or at risk)

App Updates

App update notifications keep you informed about the platform:
  • New Feature — A significant new feature has been released
  • Important Announcement — Service updates or policy changes
  • Version Available — A new version of the app is available in the App Store

Quiet Hours

High IQ respects your time by not sending notifications during late night hours:
  • Default quiet hours: 10:00 PM - 8:00 AM (local time)
  • Notifications generated during quiet hours are delivered when quiet hours end
  • Critical system notifications (e.g., security alerts) may override quiet hours
Quiet hours are based on your device’s local time zone setting. If you travel across time zones, the hours adjust automatically.

Disabling All Notifications

If you want to stop all High IQ notifications: Option 1: In the App
  • Go to Profile > Notifications and toggle off every category
Option 2: At the System Level
  • Go to iOS Settings > High IQ > Notifications and turn off Allow Notifications
Disabling all notifications means you will not receive restock reminders, report completions, or badge awards. You can still see this information by opening the app directly.

Troubleshooting

  1. Check iOS Settings > High IQ > Notifications — make sure Allow Notifications is on
  2. Check the in-app notification preferences — make sure the relevant categories are enabled
  3. Check if Focus or Do Not Disturb mode is active on your device
  4. Make sure you have a stable internet connection — notifications require connectivity
  5. Try signing out and signing back in to refresh the notification token
Go to Profile > Notifications and turn off categories you do not need. Recommendations and achievements are the most frequent categories; turning these off significantly reduces notification volume.
Push notification delivery is handled by Apple’s Push Notification Service (APNs). Minor delays (a few seconds to a few minutes) are normal. Extended delays may be caused by poor connectivity, Low Power Mode, or iOS background app restrictions.
The red badge count on the app icon may occasionally become out of sync. Opening the app clears and recalculates the badge count. If it persists, try force-quitting and reopening the app.
