High IQ App

High IQ is a cannabis intelligence app that helps you discover, track, and understand cannabis strains with precision. It combines a comprehensive strain database of 16,000+ strains, AI-powered analysis, personal consumption tracking, and intelligent reporting to give you smarter insights into what you use and why.Whether you are a medical patient finding the right strain for symptom relief, a connoisseur exploring terpene profiles, or someone who wants to remember what they bought last week, High IQ is built for you.
High IQ analyzes your cannabis purchases to provide personalized insights. You can add strains to your stash via receipt photo capture, Dutchie order import, or manual entry. Our AI extracts strain data, matches it to our comprehensive database, and generates recommendations based on your terpene preferences, effect patterns, and purchase history. Over time, the app learns your preferences to suggest strains you will love.
High IQ is free to download and use. Core features — strain discovery, stash management, label scanning, stats, and collections — are available at no cost. AI-generated consumption reports are available as a premium feature, with your first report free. We believe everyone should have access to cannabis education and analytics tools.
Not yet. High IQ is currently available on iOS only (iPhone and iPad). Android support is on the roadmap but does not have a confirmed release date. In the meantime, you can access the full strain encyclopedia, High Families, and research hub on the This Is Why I’m High website from any device.
We support 500+ dispensaries nationwide with 98.7% parsing accuracy. Our AI recognizes receipts from major chains like Curaleaf, Trulieve, MedMen, and Sunnyside, as well as hundreds of independent dispensaries. If your dispensary is not automatically recognized, you can still use photo upload or manual entry to log your purchases.
Yes. While we have direct integration with 500+ supported dispensaries, you can import orders from any dispensary using our photo upload feature (smart OCR) or manual entry. Our AI is trained to recognize various receipt formats and extract strain names, quantities, and prices.

High Families & Strain Data

High Families are a classification system that groups strains into 6 families based on their dominant terpene profiles and expected effects. They go beyond the outdated “indica vs. sativa” labels to give you a more accurate picture of how a strain will make you feel:
FamilyPrimary Effects
Relaxing HighCalm, sedation, body relaxation, sleep support
Uplifting HighMood elevation, anxiety relief, stress reduction
Energetic HighMental clarity, energy, antioxidant, uplifting
Relieving HighPain relief, CB2 activation, anti-inflammation
Balancing HighMild, gentle relaxation, beginner-friendly
Entourage HighComplex, potent, full-spectrum entourage effect
High Families are determined by actual terpene and cannabinoid data, not marketing labels. Learn more in our High Families guide.
The label scanner uses AI-powered vision to extract information from dispensary product labels. Point your camera at a label, and the AI identifies the strain name, terpene profile, THC/CBD percentages, and other details. It then classifies the strain into a High Family based on the terpene data and attempts to match it to a strain in our database. The scanner works best with printed labels in good lighting. See our Label Scanner guide for tips on getting the best results.
Our strain profiles are built using AI deep research that aggregates data from multiple authoritative sources including dispensary databases, scientific journals (PubMed, Google Scholar), certified lab results, breeder documentation, and verified user reports. Data points are validated and cross-referenced to ensure accuracy. However, actual effects can vary based on individual biology, tolerance, and batch-specific variations in cannabinoid and terpene content. Treat our data as an informed starting point, not a guarantee of a specific experience.
Our AI research agent aggregates data from:
  • Scientific research papers (PubMed, Google Scholar)
  • Certified lab test results
  • Dispensary databases (Leafly, Weedmaps, AllBud)
  • Breeder documentation
  • Aggregated user reports
All data is validated, cross-referenced, and structured into comprehensive strain profiles. We prioritize peer-reviewed research and certified lab data over anecdotal reports.
The strain database is updated daily through automated research pipelines. New strains are discovered and added continuously, existing profiles are updated with fresh lab data, and new scientific findings are incorporated. The database currently contains 16,000+ strains and is growing.
With thousands of strains and new ones appearing regularly, some may not yet be in our database. Try these steps:
  1. Search alternative names — many strains have nicknames (e.g., “GSC” for Girl Scout Cookies, “GG4” for Gorilla Glue #4).
  2. Try partial searches — search “Blue Dr” instead of the full name to catch spelling variations.
  3. Browse by lineage — if the strain is a cross of known parents, you may find it through the parent strains.
  4. Request itcontact us to request a strain be added. Requested strains are typically researched and added within 48 hours.
Terpenes are aromatic compounds that give each strain its unique scent and contribute significantly to its effects. For example:
  • Myrcene (earthy, herbal) — associated with relaxation and sedation
  • Limonene (citrus) — linked to mood elevation and stress relief
  • Caryophyllene (peppery, spicy) — associated with anti-inflammatory effects
  • Pinene (pine) — linked to alertness and memory retention
  • Linalool (floral, lavender) — associated with calm and anxiety relief
Strain profiles show the dominant terpenes and their percentages when lab data is available. Learn more in our Terpene Guide.

Privacy & Data

Absolutely. We use industry-standard encryption for all data in transit and at rest. Your cannabis purchase history is stored securely and never shared with third parties. We employ zero-knowledge architecture where possible, meaning we process data without storing unnecessary personal identifiers.Read our complete privacy policy for full details.
Your personal data (stash, sessions, reports, favorites) is stored in Convex, a real-time cloud database with built-in encryption. Strain data is served through our API from Supabase. All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption. Your data syncs in real-time across your devices and is never stored on the device alone — it is always backed up in the cloud.
Never. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or any other purposes. We only use anonymized, aggregated data to improve strain recommendations, and never in a way that could identify individual users.
Data export is a planned feature that is not yet available in the current version of the app. When released, you will be able to download a complete copy of your purchase history, strain preferences, and insights in a portable format. We believe you own your data and should have full access to it.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. In the High IQ app, go to Profile (accessible from the More tab) and scroll to the Danger Zone section. Tap Delete Account and confirm in the dialog that appears. Deletion is immediate and permanent. You can also contact support for assistance.

You can also browse High Families which group strains by their primary effect profiles.
The strain finder lets you filter the database of 16,000+ strains by multiple criteria: strain type (indica, sativa, hybrid), effects, terpenes, THC/CBD levels, and High Family. Select your preferences and matching strains appear sorted by relevance. Click any strain to see its complete profile with lineage, terpene data, and more.
The website (thisiswhyimhigh.com) is a public strain encyclopedia, research hub, and blog. Anyone can browse strain profiles, read about terpenes, and explore High Families without an account. The app (High IQ) is your personal cannabis intelligence tool. It adds stash management, consumption tracking, AI-powered reports, label scanning, order import, stats dashboards, and personalized recommendations — all tied to your private account. Both share the same underlying strain database.
