Logline

Every night at 9PM Central, Professor High posts one strain and one specific reason he is on it tonight. Same template, same time, forever.

Concept

Why I’m High Tonight is a daily appointment-viewing post. The pitch is small on purpose. One strain. One sentence of context. One terpene chart. Always at 9PM CT. Always from Professor High in the first person. The whole show is built on the discipline of showing up at the same time, with the same template, every single night. The format works because cannabis is a nighttime ritual for most of the audience. They are scrolling between dinner and bed. They are about to make a decision about what to consume, or they have already made it and are looking for someone to make it feel intentional. A nightly “here is what I am on and why” from a trusted character lands in exactly that window. It is also brand-defining. Most cannabis content is loud. This one is intimate. Candid. Specific. Over six months, the cumulative effect is that Professor High becomes the friend who texts you what he is smoking every night. That is a relationship competitors cannot buy.

Why It Works

Audience hook

Habit beats novelty. People set notifications for reliable things. The 9PM slot becomes a small ritual the audience folds into their own night.

Brand fit

First-person voice from Professor High at his most personal. Data-grounded (“limonene plus caryophyllene because I had Indian food”) but warm. The persona earns dimension here that no explainer video can give it.

Viral mechanism

Low per-post effort, compounding over time. Saves, shares, and “what’s tonight’s strain” comments accumulate. The show eventually generates a “Why I’m High Tonight” Wrapped at year-end with the most-posted strains.

Format

30 to 45 seconds. Vertical. Always the same template.
BeatTimeWhat Happens
1. The Title Card0-3sStrain name in giant serif font on a dark backdrop. Strain music from the AI library plays for 5 seconds.
2. The Reason3-15sProfessor High in the corner with a different prop each night (mug, magnifying glass, headphones, cookbook). One sentence: “Tonight I’m high on [strain] because [specific reason].“
3. The Receipt15-30sTop three terpenes as a horizontal bar chart at the bottom. High Family classification stamped on the right.
4. The Link30-45s”Full strain page in bio.” Static end card with the strain name and the High IQ logo.

Cadence

Daily. 9PM Central. Every single night, no exceptions, no skipped Sundays. The consistency is the entire show. If we cannot post live, we pre-schedule the night before.

Example Episodes

  1. Tonight I’m high on Wedding Cake because the limonene plus caryophyllene combo is my dinner-and-wind-down stack. — Pair the strain with what was actually for dinner. The terpene chart explains why this profile lands as a digestif rather than a stimulant.
  2. Tonight I’m high on Northern Lights because I was up until 4AM in the data and my CB1 receptors deserve a break. — Lean into the night-owl scientist quirk. Explain why a high-myrcene profile is the right tool for a depleted day.
  3. Tonight I’m high on Pineapple Express because somebody tagged me in a meme about my own origin story. — A character-aware episode. Use the strain that gave Professor High his name. Brief, self-aware, fan-service-y.
  4. Tonight I’m high on Cherry Pie because I just ranked the top 50 myrcene strains and this one ranked higher than I expected. — Use the post to surface a piece of the database the audience would not otherwise see. The reason is a one-line recap of internal research.
  5. Tonight I’m high on Granddaddy Purple because I lost a debate with my own data about whether “indica” means anything. — A small moment of intellectual honesty. The character admits the label still pulls a real chemical signal even though the dichotomy is broken.
  6. Tonight I’m high on Blue Dream because a follower said it changed their mind about hybrids and I owe them a check-in. — Direct community reference. Names the follower (with permission) and ties the night’s choice to a comment thread from earlier in the week.
  7. Tonight I’m high on Sour Diesel because the AI song for this strain is genuinely my favorite track in the whole 19k library. — Use the soundtrack feature. The strain music plays through the full beat. Closes with a link to the song.

Production Notes

  • Same template card every night. Strain name in 96pt serif, terpene chart at the bottom, Professor High avatar in the upper corner, dark background. Only the strain, the reason, and the prop change.
  • The prop is the personality. Mug for tea-pairing nights, magnifying glass for research nights, headphones for music nights, cookbook for dinner nights. Pick from a fixed prop kit.
  • Strain music plays for the first 5 seconds of every video. Volume ducks under the voiceover for the reason beat.
  • Caption template is identical across platforms: “Tonight I’m high on [strain] because [reason]. [Top terpenes]. Full read: [link].”
  • Never skip the link. The whole show subtly funnels traffic to the strain pages on the website.

Discovery tactics: pin the most recent night to the top of every profile until the next post. Build an Instagram Story Highlight called “Tonight I’m High” so the archive is browsable. At the end of the year, publish a “Why I’m High Tonight: Year One” carousel ranking the most-posted strains and the most-loved nights.

Success Metrics

  • Notification-on rate growing month over month on Instagram Stories. The leading indicator of habit formation.
  • Story completion rate above 80%. If people are skipping past the title card, the strain name is not landing.
  • Comments and DMs that match the format (“tonight I’m high on X because Y”). When the audience starts copying the template, the show has earned its place.
  • Steady click-through to the strain page from the bio link. This is the show’s product surface.
